• Side Unite

Sistas Unite is the very heartbeat of who we are. It is the expression of uniting women to bring hope, freedom and dignity to humanity. We are a company of sistas, united in cause, partnering together with local and global initiatives that are committed to making the world a better place.

In a world intent of binding us with a harness of slavery, we stand as a testament to Christ’s amazing freedom and salvation. Whether oppressed physically, emotionally or spiritually, we join together to bring light, life and freedom to our sistas both near and far.

To each of you, we want to say thank you! Your contribution plays a significant part in the cause of Sistas Unite, and together we are united to bring freedom to the lives of many around the world.

We believe in the barrier-breaking power of prayer. As a collective of women, we are committing to pray together for this year. We have themed each day and created a prayer calendar for you to follow – download calendar here

This year we are supporting "I Got Your Back Pack", which is a registered charity whose vision is to support those in crisis as a result of domestic violence. They provide backpacks filled with practical and essential items to every woman and child as they enter the support of Women's Refuge here in New Zealand. We can help by bringing the following new items with us to conference: toys and coloured pens/pencils for the children's packs, and shampoo and conditioner for the women.

Sistas Unite helped establish A Girl Called Hope in 2003, an initiative birthed out of the heart of our conference host, Ps Maree de Jong. It is a residential and life-development programme for young women motivated for change by addressing the drivers and effects of life-controlling issues and behaviour. The programme helps those between 16 and 28 years from New Zealand whose challenges include anxiety, depression, disordered eating, self-harm, suicidal ideation and unplanned pregnancy.
Your donations since Sistas 2015 have helped many young women to participate in the programme – thank you! This coming year we would love to continue supporting AGCH by helping keep girls in the programme and by providing funds to aid with house maintenance costs.
To find out how you can partner and bring hope and freedom to young women, please email sistasunite@sistas.org.nz.

Sistas Unite is proud to sponsor A21 and Watoto, with whom we partner to help bring hope and freedom into the lives of so many globally.

  • A21. A21 works within dozens of countries, rescuing women from slavery after being trafficked. Through our support, A21 was able to assist over 25 survivors—men, women and children—in Thailand, rescuing them from a place of vulnerability and helping them rebuild in a place of stability. This year, we are supporting A21’s SAFE Programme in Ukraine. Our goal is to provide practical resources for the safe repatriation of survivors. This includes flights, reintegration, and connection with their local services and resources.
  • Watoto. Through your donations last year, Watoto was able to buy sanitary towels for 2000 girls through the KAGIS campaign (Keep a Girl in School). It is these basic necessities that prevent absenteeism, allowing these girls to continue to learn and provide both them and their nation with a brighter future.
This year Watoto are in serious need of new sewing machines which provide ladies with industry training. The opportunity to aid Watoto with this will see continued strength to their programme, and support to the women they work with.

Surprise a Sista is a highlight of every Sistas Conference, and an honour for us to outwork annually. Each year we select a brave woman who may be going through a challenging season and provide her with a gift and pampering to reassure her that she is not alone in her journey. Over the years we have had the privilege of walking with women from a range of circumstances, and have seen how a little bit of help and encouragement can make a world of difference in their lives. Nominations are now closed for Sistas 2017. To nominate a girlfriend for Sistas 2018 who may need some encouragement, fill out the nomination form HERE.

Every year, we offer the opportunity for women who are financially restricted to apply for full or part sponsorship of their conference fees. Sponsorship recipient applications for 2017 have now closed. If you would like to bless another Sista who couldn’t come to Sistas 2018 without some help, please contact the team at sistas@lifenz.org.
